About the Role
We are seeking a high-caliber Data Science Engineer to join a leading IT powerhouse in Sri Lanka. This role is designed for a professional who moves beyond theoretical modeling to build production-grade AI systems. You will play a pivotal role in architecting scalable machine learning ecosystems and bridging the gap between data research and real-world engineering.
Key Responsibilities

End-to-End ML Pipelines: Design, develop, and deploy scalable machine learning pipelines from data ingestion and feature engineering to model monitoring.

Production Optimization: Optimize model inference latency and ensure high availability for real-time, large-scale applications.

Feature Engineering: Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to manage and optimize Feature Stores for consistent model inputs.

R&D Leadership: Stay at the forefront of AI trends (LLMs, RAG, Computer Vision) and evaluate their feasibility for complex business use cases.

Model Governance: Implement robust MLOps practices to track model versioning, performance drift, and data integrity.
Technical Requirements & Advanced Skills
Machine Learning & AI Frameworks

Deep expertise in supervised/unsupervised learning and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX).

Proven experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP), specifically fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs) and building RAG architectures.
Engineering & MLOps

Mastery of Advanced Python (AsyncIO, Type Hinting, Pydantic).

Hands-on experience with MLOps tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, or DVC.

Proficiency in Containerization and Orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.

Strong understanding of CI/CD for ML (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI).
Data Infrastructure

Advanced SQL skills and experience with modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery).

Experience building and maintaining data pipelines using Apache Airflow or Prefect.

Familiarity with distributed computing frameworks like PySpark or Dask.
Qualifications & Soft Skills

Education: BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.

Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of post-internship industrial experience in a Data Science or Machine Learning Engineering role.

Communication: Professional-level English fluency with the ability to translate complex technical findings into actionable business insights.
