About the Company:

Our client is a premier, household-name retail chain in Sri Lanka with an extensive network of physical outlets and a rapidly expanding e-commerce footprint. As they continue to modernize their operations and drive digital transformation, they are seeking a visionary, business-savvy Head of IT to spearhead their technology infrastructure, retail systems, and digital strategy.

The Role:

The Head of IT will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for aligning technology initiatives with overarching retail business goals. This role requires a hands-on leader who can seamlessly manage day-to-day IT operations across showrooms, distribution centers, and corporate offices, while strategically executing long-term digital and omni-channel transformation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute an enterprise-wide IT strategy, driving digital transformation, omni-channel retail integration, and e-commerce growth.

• Retail Systems Management: Oversee, optimize, and maintain critical retail applications including Point of Sale (POS) systems, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Inventory Management, and Supply Chain automation tools.

• Infrastructure & Security: Ensure 100% uptime, scalability, and security of network infrastructure, servers, and cloud environments across all retail outlets, warehouses, and headquarters.

• Data Analytics & Business Intelligence: Implement data-driven frameworks to analyze sales trends, inventory turnover, and consumer behavior to aid executive decision-making.

• Vendor & Budget Management: Manage relationships, SLAs, and negotiations with external software vendors, hardware suppliers, and service providers. Formulate and optimize the annual IT capital (CAPEX) and operational (OPEX) budgets.

• Team Leadership: Mentor, guide, and upskill an internal team of IT professionals, system administrators, and technical support staff.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems (MIS). An MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is highly advantageous.

• 8–10+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership or managerial capacity, strictly within the Retail, FMCG, or E-commerce sectors.

• Deep expertise in managing enterprise ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics) and modern retail POS architectures.

• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure), cyber security protocols, and data privacy practices.

• Excellent commanding presence, stakeholder management skills, and a track record of leading large-scale corporate IT migrations.
