Role Overview

We are headhunting for an Associate Tech Lead / Tech Lead to join a fast-growing Australian Healthcare technology firm. This is a “Player-Coach” role—designed for a high-caliber engineer who loves to stay close to the code while providing technical leadership and mentorship to a distributed team.

As this is a permanent remote position, we are looking for a self-motivated leader who can maintain high standards of engineering excellence without direct supervision.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the end-to-end development of robust, scalable web applications.

  • Architect technical solutions that align with business requirements from the Australian product team.

  • Support and unblock team members through technical guidance and pair programming.

  • Ensure the security, performance, and maintainability of the codebase.

 

Qualifications

  • BSc/MSc in Computer Science or a related field.

  • Minimum 5-8 years of post-internship industrial experience.

  • Exceptional English communication skills (essential for direct collaboration with Australian stakeholders).

  • Ability to work independently in a remote, high-trust environment.

 

Technical Requirements & Advanced Skills

Core Stack Mastery

  • Frontend: Advanced expertise in React.js and Next.js (App Router, Server Components, and performance optimization).

  • Backend: Strong proficiency in Node.js and Python (specifically for API development and data-driven services).

  • Architecture: Proven experience in designing scalable Microservices and Serverless architectures.

Engineering & Leadership

  • Hands-on Coding: Willingness to spend ~60-70% of the time on active development and complex problem-solving.

  • Code Quality: Mastery of Clean Code principles, Design Patterns, and conducting rigorous Peer Reviews.

  • Mentorship: Ability to guide junior and mid-level developers, resolving technical bottlenecks and fostering growth.

  • DevOps & Cloud: Experience with AWS/Azure, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines is highly desirable.
