The Opportunity

ITJobs.lk is seeking an experienced and dedicated Backend Developer to join a leading, product-focused IT firm in Colombo. This is a Hybrid role based at their modern offices in Colombo 5, offering the perfect balance of collaborative teamwork and flexible remote work.

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and high-performance backend services using both Python and Node.js for their core products. If you are passionate about clean architecture, microservices, and tackling complex data challenges, we want to hear from you!

What You Will Be Doing

  • Design and implement highly scalable, reliable, and secure APIs and backend systems using Python (with frameworks like Django/Flask) and Node.js.

  • Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and QA engineers to define and ship new features.

  • Optimize database performance (SQL/NoSQL) and manage data integrity and caching layers.

  • Contribute to system architecture decisions and help transition toward microservices where applicable.

  • Write clean, well-documented, and testable code, ensuring high quality and maintainability.

  • Participate in code reviews, contributing to a culture of technical excellence.

Technical Skills Required (Must-Haves)

  • Proven professional experience as a Backend Developer.

  • Strong proficiency in at least one of the core technologies: Python (e.g., Django, Flask) or Node.js (e.g., Express, NestJS).

  • Solid experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL).

  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL.

  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker) and Cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is highly beneficial.

  • Proficiency with Git and modern development workflows.
