About the Role

We are seeking a high-caliber Senior AI/ML Engineer to design, build, and deploy production-grade machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions for a leading Australian-based IT firm. This is a 100% remote, 6-month contract position operating on Australian business hours for candidates based in Sri Lanka.

In this role, you will take ownership of model design, fine-tuning, and MLOps pipelines while collaborating directly with onshore technical leads. You will be responsible for building scalable Generative AI applications, optimizing inference performance, and integrating modern AI endpoints into enterprise infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• AI/ML Architecture & Development: Design, train, fine-tune, and deploy ML models, Generative AI applications, and LLM-powered RAG pipelines into production.

• MLOps & Pipeline Engineering: Build and maintain end-to-end MLOps pipelines for automated model evaluation, monitoring, and CI/CD integration.

• Technical Collaboration: Partner with Australian software engineers and data engineering teams to integrate AI models seamlessly into cloud services.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Interface directly with Australian client leads to translate technical requirements into scalable engineering solutions.

• Performance Optimization: Optimize model inference latency, hardware resource allocation, and overall system efficiency.

Qualifications & Key Requirements

• Commercial Experience: Proven track record of 4+ years of dedicated experience in AI/ML engineering within commercial settings.

• Core Technical Mastery: Deep technical proficiency in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, scikit-learn, LLMs, RAG architectures, and vector databases (Pinecone, Chroma, Qdrant).

• Cloud & Deployment: Strong hands-on experience deploying models on AWS (SageMaker), Azure, or GCP using Docker and Kubernetes.

• Australian Market Exposure: Prior experience collaborating with Australian-based clients or managing Australian projects is a strong added advantage.

• Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills for direct stakeholder management.
