About the Role

We are seeking a high-caliber Senior DevOps Engineer based in Sri Lanka to own the reliability, deployment pipelines, and observability of a high-performance digital asset trading platform. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Colombo, at a Software Development Firm..

In this mission-critical SRE/DevOps role, you will ensure high availability and low latency for production Java backend services connecting to multiple global exchanges in real time. You will manage live market data ingestion, low-latency order flow execution, proxy/IP rotation networks, and high-throughput PostgreSQL databases.

Key Responsibilities

• Platform Reliability & SRE: Own production stability, incident response, root-cause analysis, and failover architectures across low-latency Java backend services, network paths, and data stores.

• Exchange Connectivity & Networking: Manage outbound connections to global exchanges over REST and WebSocket interfaces, overseeing proxy pools, IP rotation, load balancing, and automatic failover.

• Database Engineering: Administer, scale, and tune production PostgreSQL clusters (primary/replica setups, replication lag optimization, query tuning, backups, and disaster recovery).

• Observability & Monitoring: Build and maintain central logging, metrics, and alerting systems (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or ELK) for services, WebSocket feeds, exchange API error rates, and database health.

• CI/CD & Infrastructure as Code: Own build, release, and deployment pipelines across environments, managing safe rollouts, cutovers, secrets management, and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).

• Architecture Collaboration: Partner with engineering leads on architectural decisions, including FIX protocol integrations for OTC desks and third-party custody APIs.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Location & Work Setup: Must be based in Sri Lanka and available for a Hybrid work arrangement in Colombo.

• Experience Level: Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering.

• Core Technical Stack:

  • Proven experience supporting high-throughput Java backend applications in production environments.

  • Hands-on expertise with PostgreSQL administration, replication, query tuning, and backup/restore procedures.

  • Deep experience in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes or equivalent).

  • Solid proficiency in Linux system administration, networking fundamentals (proxies, load balancers, DNS, TLS), and scripting (Bash / Python).

  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Proven experience configuring monitoring and alerting stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or ELK).

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related technical discipline.

Good to Have Skills

• Industry experience in capital markets, high-frequency trading (HFT) systems, or financial services.

• Familiarity with the FIX protocol, WebSocket streaming, market data feeds, or crypto/digital asset exchange APIs.

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) expertise using Terraform or Ansible.

• Experience supporting Node.js microservices alongside Java architectures.
