About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Lead Technical Business Analyst based in Sri Lanka to join a fast-growing Australian IT consulting and technology solutions firm. This is a full-time, 100% remote position operating strictly aligned with Australian business hours (AEST/AEDT). The position is offered as an initial 1-year contract with a renewable option, with remuneration paid in Australian Dollars (AUD).

In this pivotal role, you will bridge the gap between complex FinTech business objectives and high-performing software engineering teams. You will own the requirement lifecycle—from high-level stakeholder discovery and system architecture alignment down to detailed API specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria for financial products.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Requirement Ownership: Drive discovery sessions with Australian enterprise clients, product managers, and domain experts to elicit, analyze, and document complex functional and non-functional requirements.

• FinTech Domain Execution: Translate intricate financial workflows (e.g., payment gateways, digital banking, core ledger systems, compliance, and lending platforms) into precise technical specifications.

• System Architecture & API Specs: Define system interfaces, data flows, integration touchpoints, and detailed REST/GraphQL API specifications alongside technical leads and architects.

• Agile Leadership: Lead technical backlog grooming, write robust user stories with unambiguous acceptance criteria, and guide development squads through sprint planning and feature execution.

• Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary technical advisor for Australian client stakeholders, managing scope expectations, trade-off evaluations, and change control processes.

• Mentorship & Quality Control: Review deliverables produced by mid-level business analysts, establish BA documentation standards, and ensure product delivery aligns strictly with business goals.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Location & Work Setup: Must be based in Sri Lanka and strictly available to work during Australian Timezone hours (AEST/AEDT).

• Domain Expertise: Proven track record in the FinTech / Banking / Financial Services domain (payments, lending, open banking, trading, or wealthtech platforms).

• Experience: Minimum 6+ years of total experience as a Business Analyst or Technical BA, with at least 2+ years in a lead or senior capacity.

• Technical Depth:

  • Strong understanding of modern web architectures, microservices, cloud ecosystems (AWS/Azure), and API design patterns.

  • Hands-on proficiency with tools like Jira, Confluence, Figma, Postman, and diagramming tools (Draw.io, Lucidchart, Miro).

  • Solid working knowledge of SQL for data analysis, system mapping, and acceptance validation.

• Communication: Exceptional written and spoken English skills, with the confidence to lead executive-level discovery workshops with Australian clients.

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (CBAP / PMI-PBA certification is a strong plus).
