About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Associate QA Engineer to join a leading IT firm in Colombo.
In this full-time role, you will work within an agile software engineering team to ensure the reliability, performance, and functionality of enterprise software products. You will design test cases, execute manual and automated tests, identify software defects, and collaborate closely with developers and product managers.
Candidates who have completed a 6-month software QA internship or have equivalent entry-level testing experience are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities

Review product requirements, functional specifications, and user stories to create clear, structured test scenarios and test cases.

Execute functional, non-functional, regression, system, and integration testing across web and mobile platforms.

Identify, document, log, and track software bugs and anomalies using issue-tracking tools (e.g., Jira).

Perform API testing to verify backend services and integration points.

Assist in maintaining and expanding automated test suites (UI & API) where applicable.

Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospective sessions.

Work closely with software developers to verify bug fixes and ensure smooth product releases.
Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

Prior QA Internship: Completion of 6-months Quality Assurance internship (or equivalent hands-on industry experience) is highly preferred.

Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), and QA methodologies.

Hands-on experience with bug-tracking systems (Jira, Redmine, or Trello) and test management tools.

Basic experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman) and database queries (SQL).

Familiarity with basic test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright) or scripting (JavaScript, Python, or Java) is a plus.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving mindset.

Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
