Job Type: Full-Time (1-Year Renewable Contract)

 

About the Role

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Software Engineer (React, Node, Next.js) with a strong Frontend focus to join a fast-growing IT firm based in Nawala, Sri Lanka. This is a full-time position offered as an initial 1-year renewable contract, operating on a hybrid work arrangement.

In this role, you will play a key part in designing, building, and optimizing high-performance, responsive web applications. While the role involves full-stack capabilities with Node.js, primary emphasis is placed on frontend excellence—leveraging React and Next.js to deliver seamless, scalable, and user-centric web experiences.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Frontend Architecture & Development: Design, build, and maintain modern, accessible web interfaces using React and Next.js.

  • Full-Stack Integration: Develop and integrate backend APIs, microservices, and server-side logic using Node.js.

  • Performance & SEO Optimization: Optimize web applications for maximum execution speed, mobile responsiveness, Core Web Vitals, and Server-Side Rendering (SSR) via Next.js.

  • Component-Driven Design: Implement modular, reusable UI components adhering to modern design systems and clean code practices.

  • API Consumption & State Management: Connect frontend applications to RESTful and GraphQL APIs while managing complex client-side state efficiently.

  • Agile Collaboration: Collaborate with UI/UX designers, product owners, and backend engineers in an agile environment, conducting peer code reviews and sprint planning.

 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Location & Work Setup: Must be based in Sri Lanka and available for a Hybrid work arrangement in Nawala.

  • Contract Commitment: Willingness to engage on an initial 1-year contract (with extension options based on performance).

  • Experience Level: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering with a strong frontend focus.

  • Core Technical Stack:

    • Advanced proficiency in React and Next.js (SSR/SSG, Routing, Optimization).

    • Solid working experience with Node.js for server-side logic and API handling.

    • Deep expertise in JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3 / Tailwind CSS.

    • Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and modern state management (Redux, Zustand, Context API).

    • Familiarity with version control systems using Git.

  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and excellent verbal/written English communication.

 

Good to Have Skills

  • Understanding of database management systems (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL).

  • Experience with automated testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress).

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Vercel) and CI/CD deployment pipelines.
