About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and technically adept Project Manager to join a fast-growing IT firm based in Nawala, Sri Lanka. This is a full-time, hybrid position offered as an initial 1-year renewable contract.

The ideal candidate will bridge technical execution and strategic delivery. You must bring a strong background in Software Engineering alongside hands-on Business Analysis (BA) experience, enabling you to understand complex product architectures and elicit clear requirements. As a certified or experienced Agile Scrum Master, you will facilitate Scrum ceremonies, remove delivery roadblocks, and drive high-performing engineering squads to ship software efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Agile Scrum Facilitation: Serve as the Scrum Master for engineering teams—leading daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

• End-to-End Project Delivery: Own project schedules, scope, risk management, resource allocation, and quality delivery across client-facing and internal software initiatives.

• Technical & BA Alignment: Utilize your software engineering and business analysis background to translate complex business requirements into detailed user stories, technical acceptance criteria, and clear architectural specs.

• Backlog & Scope Management: Partner with Product Owners, Solution Architects, and clients to prioritize product backlogs and manage scope change effectively.

• Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary operational point of contact for project stakeholders—providing transparent progress reports, risk assessments, and velocity metrics.

• Team Leadership & Process Improvement: Foster a continuous improvement mindset within engineering teams, optimizing sprint velocity, deployment cycles, and cross-functional team collaboration.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Location & Work Setup: Must be based in Sri Lanka and available for a Hybrid work arrangement in Nawala.

• Contract Commitment: Willingness to engage on an initial 1-year contract (with strong renewal options based on performance).

• Experience Level: Minimum 4+ years of IT project management experience delivering custom software engineering projects.

• Core Competencies:

  • Solid background or prior hands-on experience in Software Engineering (understanding modern web/cloud architectures, APIs, and software development life cycles).

  • Proven experience in Business Analysis, including eliciting requirements, writing user stories, mapping data flows, and defining acceptance criteria.

  • Demonstrated experience as an Agile Scrum Master (PSM I / CSM certification is highly desirable).

  • Deep proficiency with Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, Trello, or Azure DevOps.

• Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, conflict resolution, negotiation, and written/spoken English communication skills.

Good to Have Skills

• Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or PMP certification.

• Exposure to managing clients across international timezones (ANZ, UK, or US).

• Hands-on familiarity with CI/CD deployment pipelines, QA automation flows, or cloud environments.
