About the Role

We are seeking a highly autonomous, builder-minded Senior Product Engineer based in Sri Lanka to join a fast-growing Australian FinTech firm. This is a full-time, 100% remote position operating strictly aligned with Australian business hours (AEST/AEDT).

In this AI-native engineering environment, there are no rigid handoffs between “product” and “engineering.” You will talk directly with operations, sales, and product leaders to understand real business problems, then write the specs, architect the systems, and direct AI agents to accelerate execution. We are looking for technical generalists who think end-to-end and own outcomes rather than just closing tickets.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End Product Ownership: Turn non-technical business problems into working, scalable production systems—from problem definition through to deployment and iteration.

• AI-Native Engineering: Utilize agent-first workflows and AI-assisted development to ship features at an unprecedented pace, using human judgment to guide AI implementation.

• Production-Grade Codebase: Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code using React, TypeScript, Python, and AWS that other engineers can build on.

• Autonomous Product Scoping: Make direct product calls, scope what to build (and what not to build), sequence technical tasks, and balance speed, quality, and architecture complexity.

• Direct Stakeholder Collaboration: Work directly with the people who use what you ship, gathering feedback and iterating based on real usage metrics.

• Commercial Prioritization: Move fast while keeping development velocity aligned with core commercial FinTech goals.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Location & Work Setup: Must be based in Sri Lanka and strictly available to work during Australian Timezone hours (AEST/AEDT).

• Technical Versatility: Proven track record as a technical generalist moving effortlessly across product thinking, systems design, frontend/backend engineering, and operations.

• Full-Stack Proficiency:

  • Strong expertise in React.js, TypeScript, and Python.

  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure on AWS and scalable systems design.

  • Deep familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools, agentic workflows, and modern LLM development environments.

• Product Instincts: Ability to evaluate “should we build this?” before “how do we build this?”, translating fuzzy business requirements into pragmatic technical solutions.

• Startup/FinTech Agility: Comfort navigating ambiguity in a small, growth-stage environment where requirements evolve rapidly.

• Communication: Exceptional written and spoken English skills, with the ability to explain complex technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders and founders easily.

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or equivalent practical industry portfolio.
