About the Role

We are seeking an innovative and product-driven AI Product Engineer based in Sri Lanka to join a fast-growing Australian technology and educational software firm. This is a full-time, 100% remote position operating strictly aligned with Australian business hours (AEST/AEDT).

In this role, you will lead the development of intelligent, adaptive learning experiences powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI. Working within a cross-functional squad of software engineers, product managers, and domain experts, you will build novel features from concept to production—delivering real-time conversational feedback, adaptive guidance, and automated assistance to hundreds of thousands of users globally.

Key Responsibilities

• AI Feature Development: Design, prototype, and deploy LLM-powered application features across student- and educator-facing platforms.

• Full-Stack Implementation: Work across the software stack using React, TypeScript, Python, and GraphQL to build responsive, production-grade applications.

• LLM & RAG Engineering: Experiment with prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector search, and model fine-tuning strategies to optimize AI response accuracy and user engagement.

• AI Infrastructure & LLMOps: Contribute to evaluation pipelines, prompt versioning, observability tools, and guardrails to ensure safe and reliable model execution.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with domain specialists and product designers to ensure AI features are pedagogically sound, highly intuitive, and aligned with organizational values.

• Continuous Iteration: Think critically about the capabilities and limitations of LLMs, implementing safeguards and continuous evaluation mechanisms in production.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Location & Work Setup: Must be based in Sri Lanka and strictly available to work during Australian Timezone hours (AEST/AEDT).

• Industry Experience: Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in product-focused full-stack or backend engineering.

• Core Technical Stack:

  • Proficiency in React.js, TypeScript, Python, and GraphQL.

  • Hands-on experience building, deploying, and maintaining LLM-powered applications in commercial production environments.

  • Strong working knowledge of RAG architectures, vector databases, prompt engineering, and LLMOps evaluation frameworks.

• Product Instincts: Strong user empathy and product intuition, with the ability to turn complex AI capabilities into simple, accessible user experiences.

• Communication: Exceptional written and spoken English skills, with a track record of effective collaboration across remote, cross-functional teams.

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or equivalent practical industry portfolio.
