About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and self-driven Senior AI/ML Engineer based in Sri Lanka to join an innovative tech team on a 1-year full-time contract. This is a 100% remote position working aligned with Australian timezones (AEST/AEDT).

In this role, you will design, build, fine-tune, and deploy production-grade Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning solutions, including Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI workflows, and scalable MLOps pipelines.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, train, fine-tune, and deploy machine learning models and Generative AI/LLM solutions for real-world enterprise applications.

  • Build scalable data processing pipelines, feature stores, and automated MLOps pipelines for continuous training, monitoring, and model evaluation.

  • Optimize model performance, inference latency, and API execution across cloud infrastructures (AWS / GCP / Azure).

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional product managers, solution architects, and software engineering teams in an Agile environment.

  • Stay up to date with state-of-the-art AI research, frameworks, and deployment strategies, introducing best practices to the engineering team.

  • Maintain clear technical documentation, API specs, and model performance benchmarks.

 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Location & Work Setup: Must be based in Sri Lanka and strictly available to work during Australian Timezone hours (AEST/AEDT).

  • Industry Experience: Minimum of 3 years of total hands-on software development experience, including at least 2 years explicitly as an AI/ML Engineer in a commercial software production environment.

  • Core Technical Expertise:

    • Advanced proficiency in Python and standard ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn).

    • Hands-on experience with Generative AI, LLMs, RAG architectures, and orchestration tools (LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI APIs, Hugging Face).

    • Strong mastery of vector databases (Pinecone, Qdrant, ChromaDB, or Weaviate) and SQL/NoSQL systems.

    • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS SageMaker, GCP Vertex AI, or Azure ML) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Language & Communication: Excellent written and spoken English skills are required for seamless daily collaboration with Australian stakeholders.

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
