Job Type: Full-Time (1-Year Contract)

 

About the Role

We are looking for a talented and passionate Associate Software Engineer / Software Engineer (React & Next.js) to join a leading software development company in Colombo for a 1-year full-time contract (with the potential for extension or permanent placement based on performance).

In this hybrid role, you will work as part of a high-performing engineering team building modern, high-performance web applications, server-rendered platforms, and progressive web apps using React, Next.js, and TypeScript.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and deploy clean, maintainable, and scalable front-end components using React.js and Next.js.

  • Implement Server-Side Rendering (SSR), Static Site Generation (SSG), and incremental static regeneration features in Next.js to optimize performance and SEO.

  • Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, back-end engineers, and product owners to turn Figma wireframes and design specs into high-quality code.

  • Integrate RESTful APIs and GraphQL services into front-end workflows with efficient state management.

  • Write unit tests, conduct code reviews, and optimize applications for maximum speed, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility.

  • Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives).

 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience:

    • Associate Level: 1+ year of hands-on software development experience with React.

    • Software Engineer Level: 2–4+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong mastery of React and Next.js.

  • Core Technical Stack:

    • Advanced proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, React.js, and Next.js (App Router / Pages Router).

    • Solid understanding of state management tools (Redux Toolkit, Zustand, Context API, or React Query / TanStack Query).

    • Strong expertise in CSS frameworks such as Tailwind CSS, Styled Components, or Material UI.

    • Good knowledge of Git, branching strategies, and CI/CD deployment pipelines (Vercel, AWS, or Azure).

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of web performance optimization techniques.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
