About the Role
We are seeking an exceptionally talented and hands-on Senior AI Engineer based in Sri Lanka to join a rapidly growing Australian IT firm with dedicated engineering hubs in Sri Lanka and Singapore. This is a full-time remote position working aligned with Australian business hours (AEST/AEDT).
In this role, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise-grade Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI solutions. You will work closely with cross-border engineering teams across Australia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka to bring cutting-edge AI capabilities from research and prototyping into robust production systems.
Key Responsibilities

Architect, train, fine-tune, and deploy advanced AI models, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Generative AI pipelines into production environments.

Design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, vector search capabilities, and intelligent agent workflows.

Build automated MLOps and LLMOps pipelines for continuous model evaluation, fine-tuning, monitoring, and guardrails.

Collaborate with software architects, data engineers, and product teams across Australia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka.

Optimize model latency, token costs, and API throughput across cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP).

Stay at the forefront of emerging AI research, methodologies, and frameworks, introducing production best practices to the regional engineering teams.
Requirements & Qualifications

Location & Work Setup: Must be based in Sri Lanka and available to work strictly during Australian Timezone hours (AEST/AEDT).

Experience: Minimum 4–5+ years of total software engineering experience, with at least 2–3+ years explicitly focused on building and deploying production AI/ML systems.

Core Technical Stack:

Advanced mastery of Python and modern AI/ML libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn).

Hands-on experience with Generative AI, LLM fine-tuning, RAG frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel), and API integrations (OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face).

Strong working knowledge of Vector Databases (Pinecone, Qdrant, ChromaDB, Weaviate, or PGVector).

Expertise in cloud deployment (AWS SageMaker, Azure AI, or GCP Vertex AI) and containerized architectures (Docker, Kubernetes).

Solid understanding of REST/GraphQL APIs, microservices, and database systems (SQL & NoSQL).

Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and spoken English skills with experience working in cross-border remote environments.

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a related field.
