About the Role

We are seeking a talented and versatile Full Stack Software Engineer (PHP, Laravel & React) to join a dynamic software engineering team in Colombo. This full-time position offers a balanced hybrid working model with 3 days working from home (WFH) and 2 days at the office in Colombo.

In this role, you will be responsible for building, scaling, and maintaining modern web applications, RESTful APIs, and responsive user interfaces. You will work across the entire software development lifecycle, pairing a robust Laravel backend with a high-performance React frontend.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, and maintain secure, scalable web applications using PHP, Laravel, and React.js.

  • Design and implement efficient RESTful APIs, webhooks, and microservices in Laravel.

  • Build responsive, component-based user interfaces and single-page applications (SPAs) using React.js, Redux/Context API, and modern CSS frameworks (Tailwind CSS / Bootstrap).

  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following OOP principles and MVC patterns.

  • Optimize database queries, indexing, and schema design in MySQL / PostgreSQL.

  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers, product managers, and QA teams to translate product requirements into production-ready software.

  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) workflows.

 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2–4+ years of hands-on commercial experience in full-stack web development.

  • Backend Expertise:

    • Strong mastery of PHP 8+ and modern Laravel framework concepts (Eloquent ORM, Queues, Service Containers, Middleware, Authentication).

    • Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL) and query optimization.

  • Frontend Expertise:

    • Proficiency in React.js, modern JavaScript (ES6+), and state management.

    • Experience with state/query management (Redux, Zustand, or TanStack / React Query) and Tailwind CSS.

  • General Technical Stack:

    • Good understanding of Git, branching strategies, and REST API standards.

    • Experience with Docker, cloud deployments (AWS / DigitalOcean / Forge), or CI/CD pipelines is a strong advantage.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Strong problem-solving mindset and excellent communication skills in English.
