About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Solution Architect based in Sri Lanka to join an Australian-based IT consultancy on a part-time remote contract basis (6-month initial duration with high potential for renewal).
In this advisory and architectural leadership role, you will design end-to-end cloud and software solutions for high-scale FinTech and financial services platforms. You will work closely with executive stakeholders, product owners, and engineering leads to ensure solutions align with regulatory compliance, security benchmarks, and modern financial system architectures.
Key Responsibilities

Architect scalable, resilient, and secure financial software solutions, payment gateways, banking integrations, and cloud architectures.

Define technical vision, system blueprints, API contracts, sequence diagrams, and technology stack choices for FinTech projects.

Consult directly with Australian clients and product teams to translate business and compliance requirements into technical specifications.

Review existing architectures for performance, scalability, security vulnerabilities, and cost optimization.

Evaluate third-party financial services APIs, open banking standards, and cloud infrastructure choices (AWS / Azure / GCP).

Provide architectural governance and hands-on guidance to offshore engineering teams in an Agile delivery framework.
Requirements & Qualifications

Location & Availability: Must be based in Sri Lanka and available to attend scheduled client meetings during Australian Timezone hours (AEST/AEDT).

FinTech Expertise: Deep domain expertise in FinTech (e.g., Digital Banking, Payment Systems, Open Banking, WealthTech, Lending, Core Banking Systems, PCI-DSS compliance).

Architecture Experience: Minimum of 6+ years in software development, with at least 3+ years specifically as a Solution Architect or Principal Architect.

Core Technical Stack:

Proven experience designing distributed systems, microservices architectures, and event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Event Grid).

Mastery of cloud platforms (AWS / Azure) and serverless/containerized deployments.

Hands-on familiarity with secure API design (REST, GraphQL, gRPC), OAuth 2.0/OIDC, and financial data encryption standards.

Experience with UML, C4 modeling, and enterprise architecture frameworks.

Communication & Consulting: Exceptional written and spoken English skills with prior experience in client-facing consultancy or advisory roles.

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related field.
